Thai food – the perfect Friday night take out or midweek lunch. I did all of the hard work for you and established my top three picks for the top 3 Thai restaurants in West Palm Beach, Florida. Was this task difficult to narrow down the top selections??? Yes. Was it worth it? Oh yeah. Let’s get right to it, k? I’ll give you all the key factors I used to make this decision: price, taste, ambiance of the restaurant and portion sizes.
This is TRULY my #1 pick – I’ve never loved a place more than I love Thai Bay. You can check out Thai Bay on Old Okeechobee Rd. Honestly, I tell everyone about this place. Michael and I have loved Thai Bay from the beginning. We fell in love with the homey easy going feel of the restaurant – you seriously feel like you’re sitting in the living room of your friendly Thai grandmother, you know? Super cozy and cute. I love it so much I seriously want to go multiple times a week. Whenever we go to Thai Bay, it seems that there are maybe only two waiters (I think they might be father and son?), but they are SO kind and give the best recommendations on what to order.
The food is seriously to die for. Everything is so fresh and comes out super fast. A lot of Thai restaurants leave my belly feeling bloated and heavy after demolishing a plate of Pad See Ew, but at Thai Bay they only use non-GMO, MSG free ingredients and high quality oils. We love that. Michael said it’s probably the best Pad Thai he’s ever had – I would have to agree.
A lunch menu is of utmost importance in this ranking. Nothing beats grabbing Thai for lunch and taking it to the beach for a picnic. Plus, the lunch menu is the same portion size as dinner and fraction of the price. The only downside is that they aren’t open on Sundays and that seems to be the day I ALWAYS want Thai, but they do need their day to relax too, so they remain my #1 pick. All in all, eating at Thai Bay always feels like a family affair with the cozy ambiance, the friendly staff and the yummiest food.
Michael recommends the Pad Thai with chicken or pork and I recommend Pad Bamee with chicken + make it spicy.
I have lived less than a mile from Rama V, located on Okeechobee Blvd., for three years and just recently went for the first time a few months ago?? What have I been doing?? It was well worth the wait. The lunch special was spectacular and the food was diviiiiine. I also felt great after inhaling every bite – feeling bloated and yuck after eating at a restaurant really turns me off from returning, but thankfully, Rama V passed the digestion test. Michael got a massive bento box with soup, sushi, spring rolls and Pad Thai. I got beef Pad See Ew and all together we paid $24. Not bad for a quick lunch date for two! The vibes in the restaurant were clean and calm – the perfect setting for lunch.
The only problem we had with Rama V was the service. It was great until we tried to pay the bill and every staff member in the restaurant posted up at their own table and took their 30 minute lunch break while we tried to flag them down so we could pay and leave??? We weren’t the only customers there either so that was slightly confusing but ya know, everyone gets hungry and has to eat so I can’t say I can blame them for diving in – the food was still 10/10.
Malakor, located in the Northwood district on 25th St, was one of the first Thai restaurants I ever tried here in West Palm. We have been enjoying their food for well over a year. They have the absolute best outdoor garden patio seating with charming lights, candles and plants. It really does have a magical feeling. The portions at Malakor are MASSIVE which is why this place takes a top spot on my list. Nothing beats having leftovers the next day for breakfast, right? They have a huge menu and also have tons of sushi options. Everything is so fresh and flavorful – it just can’t be beat. The other great thing about Malakor is they are open on Sundays so I can get my fix any day of the week.
Don’t just take my word for it – get out there and see for yourself! We all need a plate of drunken noodles and panang curry in our lives! These are my tried and true best Thai food picks in West Palm Beach, FL – my standards are very high, so I promise you won’t be disappointed!
